Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery is a surgical specialty which involves the diagnosis, surgery and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the face and the oral cavity.

More simply put, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon is the orthopedic and the plastic surgeon of the facial region. He or she is an individual who addresses problems ranging from the removal of impacted teeth, replacement of teeth with dental implants, repair of facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery, diagnose and treatment of face and jaw pathology to facial cosmetic surgery including cleft lip and palate.

Dr. Gagan Sabharwal completed his post-graduation in oral and maxillofacial surgery from A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore Karnataka in 2008, followed by a fellowship in Cleft Lip and Palate surgery from DCKH (Germany). He is a fellow of the prestigious International College of Dentistry and holds a Fellowship in Dental implantology from Genova University, Italy, he has also completed his Residency in Temporomandibular joint Arthroscopy and Total joint replacement surgery from University of Maryland, Baltimore. U.S.A.
Dr. Sabharwal received his head and neck cancer training from Tata Memorial, Mumbai and Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum, India .

He was an observer in the Dept. of Plastic surgery, Texas children’s hospital, Houston in June 2017. He has also trained in arthroscopic and open temporomandibular joint surgery from Vienna, Austria.

Dr Sabharwal is among very few surgeons in the world who are extensively trained in minimally invasive keyhole surgery (Arthroscopic) of the Jaw Joint to treat patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

An internationally credentialed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with Operation Smile Inc. He is a volunteer surgeon for two non-profit organisations from the United States (Alliance for Smile and Rotaplast Int.) for the last 13 years. He travels extensively worldwide to provide free reconstructive surgery to the underprivileged children. He was instrumental in setting up the comprehensive cleft care centre at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgram, India, in collaboration with Operation Smile in 2015. 

Currently he is working as a Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon at Dr Joy Dental clinic, Jumeirah, Dubai and Fakeeh University hospital, Silicon Oasis, Dubai. He also consults at his 16 year old private practice in New Delhi India.
